Tomkins with a vision to create a Caymanian-owned bank, Cayman National Bank and Trust Company Ltd. quickly gained traction, and within four years its assets reached CI$10 million.

Operating under the umbrella of Cayman National Corporation Ltd., the bank’s timeline reflects its remarkable journey of growth and achievement. From its modest beginnings in the 1970s to its listing on the Cayman Islands Stock Exchange in 1998, Cayman National Corporation Ltd. has continually expanded its reach and diversified its offerings. Notable milestones include its first overseas venture in the Isle of Man in 1985, becoming a member of Visa and MasterCard in 1989, and being listed on the Cayman Islands Stock Exchange in 1998.

In 2019, Cayman National entered a new chapter with its majority interest acquisition by Republic Financial Holdings Limited. Under the leadership of Janet Hislop, CEO of Cayman National Corporation Ltd. and President of Cayman National Bank Ltd., Cayman National continues to drive innovation and excellence in the financial services sector.
