Thanks to innovative designers and engineers, our kitchens – once utilitarian spaces where the mess of meal preparation was kept private – have become the centrepieces of modern homes. By disguising white goods as cabinetry, replacing protruding knobs and handles with touch-to-open mechanisms, and creating pull-out pantries, sink organisers, and drawer dividers, the visual and physical clutter has been eliminated. Overlaying this, a pared back aesthetic that eschews embellishment and favours a limited colour palette, has transformed kitchens from mildly chaotic corners into sleek, spacious places of complete calm.
